Lawn & Landscape General Laborer

Our company is a locally owned lawn and landscaping company, dedicated to providing the best possible service to our customers in the Greater Des Moines, IA area. Our team at A+ Lawn and Landscape is managed by a highly entrepreneurial and progressive leadership team that is fueled by a level of passion that is uncommon in our industry. We are seeking a Lawn & Landscape General Laborer to join our growing team. This person will be responsible for monitoring, diagnosing, and treating lawn issues like weed growth, insect infestations, and lawn disease.

Type of Work

  • Service tasks include fertilization, weed control, core aeration, and overseeding
  • Monitor, diagnose, and treat lawn issues like weeds, disease, and insect infestations
  • Meet with current and prospective customers
  • Generate field sales (additional commission rewarded)
  • Write leave-behind notes for clients
  • Complete daily invoice and truck checkout procedures
  • Receive regular industry and company training

Applicant Requirements

  • Experience in turf, horticulture, landscaping, or related fields is a plus, but not required
  • Pesticide applicator license or the ability to achieve a license in the near future
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must have reliable transportation to our office in Des Moines, IA
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to learn
  • Able and willing to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions for 8-10 hours a day
  • Fantastic customer service skills
