Landscape Crew Foreman

The following outlines our open position for a crew foreman. Responsible for the efficient operation and installation of landscape design projects. Expected to work in a co-operation with designer, garden center manager, other crews, and customers to complete a professional, quality project on time.

Primary Duties

  • Responsible for supervision of crew performance and daily job instruction
  • Previous experience or ability to train and operate heavy equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records of crew time, equipment, scheduled time, etc. and reports information to the landscape manager on a timely basis
  • To be available for work Monday through Saturday, as scheduled, and be flexible with hours worked as required by seasonal schedule and weather conditions
  • Reviews and understands drawing, bids, and details with a designer in advance to determine job requirements
  • Follows instructions of the Manager without deviation from it
  • Installs projects per design; only making major alterations after approval from the designer and homeowner
  • Responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks to ensure proper materials, supplies, and equipment for the job are available and onsite
  • Train employees under his/her direction
  • Ability to layout drawings onsite to match the designs form and measurements
  • Customer communications courteous and as needed

  • Provide leadership
  • Take responsibility for you and your crew's actions
  • Gain and expand a thorough working knowledge of plant and hardscape materials
  • Follow and enforce company policy

  • Ability to repeatedly lift at least 100 lbs using proper lifting techniques

Job Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints and plans
  • Ability to operate and maintain landscape equipment
  • Ability to manage crew personnel and delegate tasks
  • Have a valid DL and be able to operate large trucks and trailers
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be able to troubleshoot issues as they arise and evaluate priorities of job routines

Job Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to occasional noise from power equipment, saws, etc. (personal protective equipment available)
  • Outdoor temperature conditions typical of Iowa through winter, spring, summer, and fall
  • Outdoor exposure to conditions ranging from the sun, heat, wind, cold, snow, rain, etc
  • Exposure to materials and equipment that can cause cUIB, abrasions, etc
  • Heavy repeated lifting (75 lbs or greater) required -use proper lifting techniques!
  • Repeated stooping, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and walking necessary

Personal Equipment Required

  • Appropriate clothing for the days work and weather following A+ uniform code i.e. pants, shorts, gloves, boots, rain gear, etc
  • Work Boots

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must show 2 forms of valid identification
  • Must bring in a DOT certified copy of driving record
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Cannot have an OWI or Drug Charges within the last 5 years
